Magic Ship Saves Holiday Parade Tree Lighting

The Magic Ship brought some extra magic to the annual Holiday of Lights parade in Morgan Hill this year.  There was a great turnout and many commented on what a great parade it was.  Surely the fantastic weather helped.  It was a chilly, calm, clear evening; perfect for a Christmas parade.  The ship looked great with the help of all the volunteer elves that keep it ship-shape from season to season.  The cannon were used in the parade for the first time in over 20 years!

But now back to that extra magic.  Mayor Tate had joined Santa on the ship for the tree lighting.  The Mayor rallied the crowd for the countdown.  But when the countdown reached “1″ there were no lights!  The outlet for the tree did not work!  Oops.  But we are Boy Scouts.  After a quick huddle we grabbed the electrical cord for the tree and plugged it into the ship!  The tree lights came on and a huge cheer arose from the crowd.  It was definately our good turn for the day.

Check out the rest of the parade news here at the Morgan Hill Times.

Magic Ship 2011

It is time for another exciting year with the Magic Ship of Christmas!  This season promises to be a great one for the Ship and her Crew.  For 36 seasons, the ship has been a part of the holidays in South County.  Beginning with the annual Christmas Parade on December 3rd, in downtown Morgan Hill, the ship will be available for your public or private event through December 23rd.

The Magic Ship of Christmas is available for events or parties for a nominal donation of $75.00 per hour.  Or visit one of the businesses listed under “Where to Find the Ship” and have your picture taken!

For a $5 donation, you may also have a 4×6″ photo of your child with Santa.  For a $10 donation you may choose an 8×10, or several pictures that will fit onto an 8×10 photo.

The proceeds from the Magic Ship support the scouts of Boy Scout Troop 799.  Your generosity helps provide leadership opportunities, outdoor skills training, and adventures in scouting to youth of Morgan Hill.

To schedule a party please contact our Scheduling Elf by e-mail or phone

Magic Ship 2010

The 35th season of the Magic Ship of Christmas has begun! Please join us at the Annual Morgan Hill Holiday of Lights parade on Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill on December 4th, 2010 at 5:00 PM. After Santa lights the Christmas tree he will “sail” to the Community Center to visit with all of the children gathered.

The Christmas season in Morgan Hill, California is a magical time that is due in part to our local tradition of the Magic Ship of Christmas. The Magic Ship is operated as a community service project by the Boy Scouts of Troop 799 with the support of our Morgan Hill Kiwanis Club. The ship spends weeks “sailing” about town bringing cheer to local businesses, rest homes, neighborhoods and day care centers.

We wish to thank all of our previous years Santa’s Schedule.
